I just completed another road trip, making that number 4* for the year. The route, this time, was from Chula Vista, California to Hood River, Oregon. Google says the most direct route for this trip is 1,088 miles…but we all know that’s not the way I like to travel. 😉 As such, Charlie and I turned this 18 hour drive into a five day camping trip!
Man, I love coming home! North Carolina is especially wonderful this time of year. The birds are chirping. The daffodils and hyacinths have bloomed, leaving their sweet scent to hang in the air. The patio tiles retain the heat from the day long after the sun has set. And, best of all, everyone is happy! It is almost comical how friendly strangers are now compared to a month ago. After 7,062 miles on the road, I arrived at home.
For 30 days, I was everywhere and nowhere all at once. I was at home by myself, on the road, with my friends, in my car, in my tent, and with Charlie by my side. I was at home at the beach, with my toes sinking in the sand and the water lapping at my ankles. I was at home in the mountains, a tiny being amongst the giant trees.
