I just completed another road trip, making that number 4* for the year. The route, this time, was from Chula Vista, California to Hood River, Oregon. Google says the most direct route for this trip is 1,088 miles…but we all know that’s not the way I like to travel. 😉 As such, Charlie and I turned this 18 hour drive into a five day camping trip!
After 7,062 miles on the road, I arrived at home.
For 30 days, I was everywhere and nowhere all at once. I was at home by myself, on the road, with my friends, in my car, in my tent, and with Charlie by my side. I was at home at the beach, with my toes sinking in the sand and the water lapping at my ankles. I was at home in the mountains, a tiny being amongst the giant trees. I was at home in the flurry of snow and in the warm embrace of the sun. Yet, at times, I felt as home-less as I could possibly be.Read More »

That didn’t stop me from literally carrying my bag from the house – to the car – to the house – to the car – to the house and back to the car again.Read More »
I’ve spent these last few days enjoying hot showers; enjoying long walks around downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea; enjoying great company; enjoying the sound of the ocean & the nearly perfect weather. Basically, I’ve just been enjoying. 🙂 Rather than sharing an all-encompassing, detail-laden post, I’ll share the highlight reel…Read More »

Since we were in a hotel, with electricity, cell phone reception, and a nice bathroom, I decided to have a slow morning. Actually, that decision was fueled by the fact I drove over an hour further last night than I had wanted, so I had less to drive today. Read More »
I woke up around midnight, surprised at how bright it was outside. The moon, though it was not full, was in full effect. I rolled over and fell back asleep, not stirring again until just before 0500. By that point, the moon was gone and the sky was littered with stars. I have never seen so many stars in all my life! Read More »
Today was my last day on the ranch. Sandee spoiled me with farm fresh eggs, coffee, and great conversation this morning. While we had girl talk, Charlie was in the car where he was supposed to be eating his breakfast. Instead, he was chasing flies. Read More »
